Unveiling the Force Gurkha 5 Door: Redefining Adventure in the Indian SUV Market

Force Motors has teased the impending arrival of their latest offering, the Gurkha 5 door. Following extensive testing and sightings of test mules nationwide, the Gurkha 5 door is slated for a debut in the Indian market by May 2024.

In development since 2022, the Gurkha 5 door promises significant changes compared to its 3 door predecessor. Cosmetic updates include new square headlamps replacing the circular ones while retaining the two-slat grille. Additionally, the SUV will flaunt larger 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, possibly accompanied by revisions to the front and rear bumpers.

Perhaps the most awaited change is the addition of two extra rear doors, enhancing the Gurkha's accessibility and practicality. Despite these alterations, the overall exterior design is expected to maintain its distinctive appeal.

Inside, the Gurkha 5 door is anticipated to feature a familiar layout but with enhanced functionality. Manual controls will make way for a shift-on-the-fly 4WD knob. Force Motors may offer various seating configurations, including 5-seater two-row, 6-seater three-row, and a 7-seater option with individual captain seats for the third row.

Powering the Gurkha 5 door is likely to be the same 2.6-litre diesel engine sourced from Mercedes, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

While precise pricing details remain undisclosed, speculation suggests the Gurkha 5 door could command a premium of Rs. 2 lakh over its 3 door counterpart, which is priced at Rs. 15.10 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Entering a segment with limited direct rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the forthcoming Mahindra Thar 5 door, set to launch by the end of 2024, the Gurkha 5 door presents an intriguing option for buyers. Would you opt for the Force Gurkha 5 door over the Mahindra Thar 5 door or even the Maruti Jimny?
