Skoda's Upcoming Sub-4-Meter Compact SUV: What to Expect

skoda

Skoda is rumored to be in the process of developing a new compact SUV that is slated to occupy a position below the Kushaq in the company's vehicle lineup. This forthcoming model is anticipated to fall under the sub-4-meter category, directly competing with the likes of the Hyundai Venue.

The foundation for this new compact SUV is said to be a modified MQB-A0-IN platform. Allegedly, Skoda is in the process of setting up the assembly line for this new vehicle, with an expected launch date in 2024.

It's essential to note that these details are currently speculative, and no official confirmation has been provided by Skoda or Volkswagen. If these speculations prove accurate, it suggests that the company is gearing up to introduce a high-volume product.

This upcoming compact SUV is poised to offer an appealing package in its segment, featuring design elements reminiscent of its sibling models, a high-quality interior, top-notch safety ratings, and well-sorted driving dynamics.

Under the hood, we can anticipate Skoda to equip this SUV with a 1.0-liter TSI turbo petrol engine, available with both manual and automatic transmission options. It's unlikely to receive the larger 1.5-liter TSI unit found in the Kushaq, likely to maintain competitive pricing.

In order to make a significant impact in the market and compete with rivals, Skoda will likely need to price this new compact SUV aggressively. It will enter the highly competitive segment and vie against vehicles such as the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, and similar offerings.
