Skoda's Compact Marvel: Unveiling the Sub-4-Metre SUV Adventure with Power and Public Participation

Skoda has shared additional details about its upcoming sub-4-metre compact SUV set to be launched by early 2025. Positioned below the Skoda Kushaq, this new entry-level SUV for the Indian market will share the same MQB-A0-IN platform but with a shortened length. Powering the vehicle will be a 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine, generating 115 HP and 175 Nm of torque, available with both 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options.

In a strategic move to optimize pricing and attract a broader audience, Skoda has decided not to offer the 1.5-litre TSI engine to benefit from tax advantages. The company is emphasizing high localisation efforts to achieve this goal and plans to double its market share by specifically targeting tier 3 and tier 4 cities.

The compact SUV, yet to be named, has five shortlisted options beginning with 'K' and ending with 'Q,' inspired by iconic Indian locations: Škoda Kylaq, Kariq, Kymaq, Kyroq, and Kwiq. Skoda is engaging the public through the "Name your Skoda" campaign, allowing participants to suggest names, and the winner will receive the compact SUV for free along with a visit to Škoda in Prague, Czech Republic. Alternatively, participants can use #NameYourSkoda or visit a dedicated website to propose new names.

Competing with popular models such as Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, and Kia Sonet, Skoda's compact SUV aims to make a significant impact in the competitive Indian market.
