Revolutionizing Commutes: Tata Motors Unleashes the Future with CNG AMT Prowess in Tiago and Tigor!

Tata Motors has officially commenced bookings for India's inaugural CNG AMT cars – the Tata Tigor and Tiago CNG AMT. Prospective buyers can secure their orders through any authorized Tata Motors dealership or the official website, accompanied by a token amount of Rs. 21,000.

The Tiago iCNG AMT will be offered in three enticing variants – XTA CNG, XZA+ CNG, and XZA NRG, while the Tigor iCNG AMT will come in two variants – XZA CNG and XZA+ CNG.

Adding a splash of vibrancy, Tata Motors has introduced new colors for these models, with Tornado Blue for the Tiago, Grassland Beige for the Tiago NRG, and Meteor Bronze for the Tigor.

Beneath the surface, both the Tata Tiago CNG automatic and Tigor CNG automatic are expected to house the same reliable 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine as their manual counterparts. This engine configuration delivers 73.4 PS at 6000 RPM and 95 Nm of torque at 3500 RPM in CNG mode, and 86 PS and 113 Nm of torque in petrol mode.

The new variants will feature the recently introduced twin-cylinder CNG tanks strategically placed below the luggage areas, optimizing boot space without sacrificing efficiency. A single ECU ensures smooth transitions between petrol and CNG modes, with both cars initiating directly in CNG mode, offering fuel-saving convenience.

Safety takes precedence with a micro switch that deactivates the ignition upon opening the fuel lid, reactivating only when securely closed. The iCNG technology promptly severs CNG supply to the engine in case of a thermal incident, releasing gas from the cylinder through a special nozzle into the atmosphere for safety measures.

With the twin CNG cylinders positioned below the luggage area, the risk of potential damage is minimized as valves and pipes are shielded under the load floor. The iCNG technology swiftly detects gas leaks, triggering an automatic shift from CNG to petrol mode.

While specific tech specs are yet to be unveiled by the Indian carmaker, the Tata Tiago CNG automatic and Tigor CNG automatic are anticipated to retain the identical 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine present in their manual counterparts, delivering 73.4 PS at 6000 RPM and 95 Nm of torque at 3500 RPM in CNG mode, and 86 PS and 113 Nm of torque in petrol mode.
