Maruti Suzuki and Toyota Gear Up for ADAS-Equipped SUVs, Postponing Launch Amidst Semiconductor
In a recent media report, Maruti Suzuki has set its sights on introducing an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) to the Grand Vitara in the upcoming fiscal year's first quarter.
According to the report, the ADAS-fitted Grand Vitara variant may come with a price tag that's Rs 50,000-75,000 higher compared to the top-tier mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid models.
Initially, Maruti Suzuki had planned to unveil the ADAS technology for the Grand Vitara in the third quarter of this calendar year. However, this eagerly awaited launch was pushed back due to the ongoing semiconductor and component shortage challenges.
Meanwhile, Toyota is also gearing up to roll out ADAS-equipped versions of their Hyryder SUV, promising an exciting competition in the ADAS-enabled SUV market.
The current safety features of the Grand Vitara already include an impressive lineup, featuring six airbags, a 360-degree camera, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Assist, front and rear disc brakes, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Hill Descent Control, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
