Mahindra Unveils Automatic Option for XUV700 MX Variant Ahead of Exciting Facelift

XUV700 MX

Mahindra is expanding its flagship SUV lineup, the XUV700, in India by introducing an automatic gearbox option for the MX variant, available exclusively with the petrol engine.

The MX variant, which recently gained a seven-seater version, has traditionally been offered as a five-seater with both petrol and diesel engines paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. With this update, the five-seater petrol version of the MX trim will now include an automatic transmission option.

Currently, the manual version of the XUV700 MX with a petrol engine is priced at Rs. 14 lakhs (ex-showroom). The upcoming automatic version is expected to be priced approximately Rs. 1.80 lakh higher than the manual variant.

The MX variant is powered by a 2.0-litre mStallion turbocharged petrol engine producing 195 BHP and 380 Nm of peak torque. This will be the most affordable variant in the XUV700 lineup to feature an automatic transmission.

This move is part of Mahindra’s strategy to enhance the appeal of the XUV700, which already includes several new variants such as the AX5L, MX 7-seater, and the Blaze Edition. By offering an automatic gearbox in the MX variant, Mahindra aims to attract a broader range of customers seeking convenience in their SUVs.

Recently, Mahindra has started testing the new facelifted version of the XUV700, likely to be renamed as XUV 7XO, similar to the renaming of the XUV300 to XUV 3XO with its facelift. The updated model will feature significant styling changes, new interior details, and a range of new features to stay competitive. It will also come with an all-electric variant. The facelift is expected to hit showrooms later this year or early next year.
