Mahindra Scorpio X: Unveiling the Future of Tough and Innovative Pickup Trucks
Mahindra unveiled the Global Pik Up concept last Independence Day, featuring a pickup truck based on the Scorpio N that garnered considerable attention. The production version of this innovative pickup is scheduled for release in 2025. Mahindra has recently trademarked the name Scorpio X, strongly indicating its association with the upcoming pickup, which is set to be available in various countries. The initial launch will target existing markets such as South Africa, ANZ, Africa MENA, and SCA, with a phased introduction in ASEAN markets to follow.
Built on a new generation ladder frame platform developed at the Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS), the Scorpio X promises enhanced toughness and versatility. Taking design cues from the Scorpio N, the pickup features a front profile reminiscent of the SUV, with rugged enhancements including a new all-black grille, LED headlights with DRLs, and a robust bumper with a winch.
The side profile boasts additional features such as a snorkel, new alloy wheels, lifted suspension, roof rails, LED light bar, side steps, and a substantial loading bay area. The rear profile is characterized by LED tail lights and a rugged bumper design.
Internally, the Scorpio X is expected to maintain a similar design, with the inclusion of new features like Level-2 ADAS, Trailer Sway Mitigation, All-Around Airbag Protection, Drowsy Driver Detection, 5G Connectivity, and more.
While engine details have not been officially announced, it is anticipated that Mahindra will offer a range similar to the diesel and petrol engines available with the Scorpio N, complemented by the 4Xplore four-wheel-drive system. The Scorpio X aims to blend rugged design with advanced features, making it a promising addition to Mahindra's lineup.
