Mahindra's Airbag Incident: Unraveling the Kanpur Accident Case

scorpio

In response to a case filed against Anand Mahindra and a dozen others by the family of a victim involved in a Kanpur accident, Mahindra has issued an official statement explaining why the airbags did not deploy during the incident.

The family claimed that the SUV lacked airbags, which they believed could have potentially saved the victim's life.

Here is the statement released by a company spokesperson: "Mahindra & Mahindra wishes to provide clarity regarding an FIR filed on September 23, 2023. It's crucial to note that this incident dates back over 18 months to January 2022. The allegation was that the vehicle was devoid of airbags. We would like to reiterate that the Scorpio S9 variant manufactured in 2020 indeed featured airbags. Our investigation found no malfunction in the airbags. The incident involved a rollover, which typically does not trigger the deployment of frontal airbags. Our technical investigation, carried out by our teams in October 2022, confirmed this. Currently, the matter is under legal proceedings, and we are fully committed to cooperating with the authorities for any further necessary investigations. We extend our deepest condolences to the family in their time of grief."

The accident occurred on January 14, 2022, when the driver of the Mahindra Scorpio was en route from Lucknow to Kanpur. In foggy conditions, the SUV collided with a divider and rolled over, resulting in the driver's unfortunate demise.
