Jeep Compass J4U: Electrifying the Future of SUVs with Stellantis' Cutting-Edge Platform
Stellantis is gearing up to launch the next iteration of the Jeep Compass SUV, codenamed J4U, in the Indian market by 2026. This highly anticipated release is set to be a game-changer, particularly with the introduction of an all-electric variant.
Built on Stellantis' STLA Medium platform, a versatile architecture designed with electrification at its core, the new Jeep Compass will offer flexibility with both internal combustion engine (ICE) setups and integrated electric powertrains.
The STLA Medium platform supports various configurations, including front-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive, and provides flexibility in battery sizes, offering options up to 98kWh for impressive driving ranges exceeding 700 km.
A notable feature of this platform is its efficient 400-Volt electric architecture, known for low energy consumption and rapid charging capabilities. With a charging rate of 2.4kWh per minute, owners can recharge their vehicles from 20% to 80% in just 27 minutes, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum convenience.
The platform also boasts electric motors ranging from 218 HP to 388 HP, showcasing its adaptability for different power outputs.
While the next-gen Jeep Compass embraces electrification, it is expected to continue offering traditional turbo-petrol and diesel engine options, providing a comprehensive range of choices for consumers.
Beyond Jeep, Stellantis' Citroen brand is set to leverage the STLA Medium platform for its upcoming models in India, highlighting the platform's adaptability across different segments.
Rumors also suggest a potential comeback for the Fiat brand in India, utilizing the STLA M platform for future offerings. This strategic move could mark a resurgence for Fiat by leveraging existing manufacturing infrastructure and capitalizing on brand recognition in the Indian market.
