Jaguar's Bold Shift: From Classics to Electric SUVs - A Farewell to XE, XF, and F-Type

Jaguar

Jaguar is on the brink of a transformative shift, steering away from its traditional focus on sedans and sports cars to concentrate solely on SUVs. The imminent closure of the Castle Bromwich factory in Birmingham signals the end of an era for models like the XE, XF, and F-Type, with production set to cease in a matter of weeks.

As Jaguar bids farewell to these iconic models, its lineup will now be exclusively composed of SUVs, including the I-Pace, E-Pace, and F-Pace, all slated to remain available through 2024. This strategic decision reflects Jaguar's response to changing market dynamics and a commitment to aligning its offerings with current consumer preferences.

This pivotal transition opens a new chapter for Jaguar, with plans in motion to introduce a lineup of electric vehicles from 2025 onwards. Among the anticipated models is a 600 BHP electric four-seat GT car, positioned to compete with formidable rivals like the Porsche Taycan. Following this, Jaguar will unveil a luxury SUV and a large luxury saloon, both built on the bespoke JEA platform, signaling a departure from its existing model range.

Despite the impending discontinuation of the XE, XF, and F-Type, customers still have the opportunity to order these models with predetermined specifications until production comes to a halt. Jaguar's North American CEO, Joe Eberhardt, assures a seamless transition for customers with a continuous supply of vehicles until the new lineup is launched.

The Castle Bromwich factory is set to cease car production in June, and while the exact duration of supply for the remaining British-built models remains uncertain, Jaguar plans to relocate the production of its upcoming EVs.

Last year's sales figures underscored the enduring popularity of Jaguar's models, with significant increases in sales for the XE and XF compared to previous years. Despite being over a decade old, the F-Type continues to capture enthusiasts' interest. As these models bow out, enthusiasts and loyal customers will undoubtedly miss the distinctive charm of the XE, XF, and F-Type.
