"Hyundai's Fortified Guardian: The New Creta's Advanced Safety Features and Robust Exoskeleton Redefine Crashworthiness

Hyundai creta 2024

Automobile manufacturers are continually enhancing safety measures to ensure safer journeys. A recent illustration is evident in the new Creta, which has been equipped with improved safety features, including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Hyundai has unveiled the strengthened exoskeleton of the new Creta, emphasizing a high level of crashworthiness.

Constructing a protective framework for car occupants involves a comprehensive strategy. Utilizing advanced, high-strength steel capable of withstanding substantial kinetic energy during a crash is essential. The car's body structure requires reinforcement in specific areas to enhance structural rigidity and energy absorption. In the case of the Creta, critical areas such as crash members, the floor, side sill, and crash pad have been reinforced.

Modern cars, like the Creta, incorporate crumple zones designed to absorb the impact of a crash, thereby limiting the transfer of energy to the passenger compartment. Crash-absorbing materials are also integrated for effective energy absorption and dissipation during a collision. While the robust appearance of the new Creta exoskeleton is impressive, its actual effectiveness can only be verified through rigorous crash tests.

The 2022 model of the Creta, equipped with 2 airbags and tested by Global NCAP, received a 3-star adult safety rating and a 3-star child safety rating. Notably, there is room for improvement, as other compact SUVs like the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun have achieved 5-star safety ratings in Global NCAP crash tests.

Other compact SUVs, such as the Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, and Citroen C3 Aircross, are yet to undergo Global NCAP testing. The possibility of Bharat NCAP crash tests for the Creta's sibling, the Kia Seltos, is also highlighted. The Seltos, tested in 2020 with 2 airbags, received a 3-star adult safety rating and a 2-star child safety rating. With their expanded safety features, including ADAS, both the new Creta and Seltos could potentially achieve higher safety ratings in future crash tests.

Standard safety features across all variants of the new Hyundai Creta include 6 airbags, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill-start assist control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, headlamps escort function, rear parking sensors, rear disc brakes, seat belt pretensioners, height-adjustable front seat belts, 3-point seat belts, seatbelt reminders, ISOFIX, emergency stop signals, immobilizers, burglar alarms, and central locking.

The ADAS kit is available with SX Tech and SX(O) trims of the new Creta, encompassing features such as forward collision warning and avoidance assist, blind-spot collision warning and avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, driver attention warning, smart cruise control with stop and go, lane following assist, high beam assist, leading vehicle departure alert, surround view monitor, and blind-spot view monitor.
