Glamour Redefined: Unveiling the 2024 Mercedes GLS - A Symphony of Power, Elegance, and Cutting-Edge Features

Mercedes GLS 450

The 2024 Mercedes GLS has made its grand entry into the Indian market, flaunting a price tag of Rs. 1.32 Crore for the GLS 450 petrol variant and Rs. 1.37 Crore for the GLS 450d diesel (ex-showroom). This facelifted model, unveiled globally in April last year, brings forth a fusion of mild exterior and interior updates, accompanied by an expanded array of features.

While the fundamental design language adheres to the expected standards of a German mid-cycle refresh, subtle yet impactful styling tweaks provide a renewed and contemporary aura. The larger grille, characterized by a distinctive 4-slat 'in-your-face' design, demands attention, offering a polarizing yet captivating element to the SUV's facade. The lights, maintaining their original shape, showcase new detailing, a theme echoed in the redesigned front and rear bumpers.

The interior, while predominantly unchanged, features a notable alteration in the form of a new steering wheel. Minimalistic adjustments, such as variations in the upholstery color scheme, will be available in multiple options.

At the heart of the technological upgrade is the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, boasting the latest iteration of the MBUX system with a revamped user interface. Noteworthy additions include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality. The MBUX system offers three distinct display styles (classic, sporty, and discreet) and three modes (Navigation, Assistance, and Service).

The standard Parking Package, equipped with a 360‑degree camera, introduces the innovative "transparent bonnet" function, providing a virtual view beneath the front of the SUV when in Offroad mode.

Under the hood of the Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 lies a robust 3.0-litre, in-line 6-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, generating 381 BHP and 500 Nm of torque. This powerhouse is seamlessly paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, propelling the SUV from 0 to 100 km/hr in just over 6 seconds. The driving experience is curated through Comfort and Eco modes, with the absence of a Sport mode. Alternatively, the GLS 450d diesel variant features a potent 3.0-litre engine producing 367 HP and 700 Nm. Both engines benefit from an extra boost of 20 HP and 200 Nm courtesy of the mild hybrid system's ISG.
