Delhi's Hi-Tech Traffic Sentinel: AI Cameras Revolutionize Road Safety with Smart Enforcement

delhi traffic

In a groundbreaking move to fortify road safety measures, the Delhi government is unleashing a fleet of AI-powered cameras armed with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology. At a cost of Rs. 20 crores, this initiative is set to be a game-changer, cracking down on violations like triple riding, mobile phone usage behind the wheel, and the operation of vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC).

Prepare for a traffic transformation as the Delhi Transport Department introduces the Integrated Traffic Enforcement Management System (ITMS) across the city. This cutting-edge system utilizes advanced AI video analytics to spot and penalize traffic offenders, with a focus on reducing accidents and fatalities.

At the heart of ITMS is the ANPR technology, empowering operators to set customized traffic rules for specific junctions and cameras. From identifying restricted-hour heavy vehicles to generating real-time alerts, the system creates a comprehensive violation history for each vehicle.

The ITMS takes on major traffic woes in the capital, addressing issues like speeding, helmet-less riding, seat belt violations, phone usage while driving, and more. The system's innovative dashboards provide actionable insights, offering a strategic view of traffic violations, vehicle count, classification, and historical trends.

With a remarkable 95% detection accuracy and 90% conversion accuracy, the ANPR software categorizes vehicles into 'good,' 'bad/dilapidated,' 'broken,' or 'without numbers.' Seamlessly integrating with the VAHAN database, the ITMS dashboard allows users to filter and search for vehicles based on multiple criteria.

Experience a revolution in violation detection and ticket generation as operators configure confidence level thresholds for different applications. This flexible system captures violations from both the front and back of vehicles, using a single camera for at least two lanes. Delhi's streets are about to get smarter, safer, and more efficient with this high-tech traffic sentinel at the helm.
