Creta EV: Hyundai Charges into the Future with a Stylish Electric Twist on a Familiar Favorite!
Hyundai India is expanding the Creta lineup with the upcoming Creta EV, recently spotted in a series of spy images during Indian road testing. Despite the camouflage, discernible design cues suggest that the electric variant will adopt the overall styling of the facelifted model.
From the spy shots, it's evident that the Creta EV incorporates headlights and tail lights from the Creta facelift, presenting a silhouette closely resembling its internal combustion engine counterpart. However, unique to the EV are design elements such as a closed-off grille and a potentially off-centre, nose-mounted charging port, reminiscent of the Kona Electric.
Distinctive aerodynamically efficient alloy wheels, likely 17-inch units with the possibility of 18-inch options, further differentiate the Creta EV. Internally, we can anticipate similarities with the facelift, with potential influences from the Ioniq 5 in certain interior aspects, promising additional features compared to the ICE counterpart.
Under the hood, the Creta EV will be equipped with a 45kWh battery pack sourced from LG Chem. While this may seem slightly smaller compared to competitors, such as the MG ZS EV (50.3kWh) and the upcoming Maruti eVX (48-60kWh), it surpasses the Nexon EV long-range’s 40.5kWh unit. The projected real-world range for the Creta EV is approximately 250 km on a single charge.
The electric motor for the Creta EV is expected to be shared with the latest-generation, entry-level Kona EV available internationally. A single front-axle-mounted motor is likely to generate around 138 HP and 255 Nm of torque, marking Hyundai's continued expansion into the electric vehicle segment in India.
